Building Long-Term Business on Trust

Building Long-Term Business on Trust

DING(Ying) Virginia

In international business, many people focus on price, speed, and contracts. But those who build businesses that truly last usually start with trust. Jay is one of those rare practitioners.

A Way of Working That Starts with Commitment

Jay manages his family business from China and has long been deeply involved in the real operations between Chinese supply chains and international markets. On January 16, we confirmed his participation as a speaker at Xi’an Business Network Vol.2 through a brief WeChat message. Shortly after, he began an international business trip.

On January 29, I checked in about his travel schedule. He replied almost immediately: “I’m available as promised for the upcoming session.” It wasn’t a formality — it reflected how seriously he takes commitment.

Showing Up, Even When It’s Hard

Jay returned to Xi’an late on January 30. On January 31, while still adjusting to jet lag, he actively supported the event preparation and  carefully prepared his slides for the session in advance.

This level of responsibility and preparation is rare and deeply respectable.

Trust Built from Real Operations

During the session, Jay shared with honesty and clarity. When he talked about trust, it wasn’t theoretical — it was grounded in real business experience.

He has a deep understanding of how different layers of the Chinese supply chain operate, including regional differences in capability, execution, and constraints. His focus is not on one-off transactions, but on building sustainable, long-term partnerships across real-world differences.

The Ideal Purchaser in My Mind

From the very first interaction, Jay demonstrated clarity, reliability, and long-term thinking. That’s why working with him makes me more willing — and more confident — to share high-quality supply chain resources with him.

In my view, Jay represents the kind of buyer who truly understands China, respects the complexity of its supply chains, and is willing to invest time and trust for long-term value. At Xi’an Business Network, we aim to bring people like this together, as in real international business, what matters most is trust, judgment, and the ability to build lasting partnerships.
